The Job Search Works Department requires job ready
Calumet Township clients to pursue education and training
for job opportunities. The Calumet Township Trustee's
Office must by law require recipients to make every
effort to find employment. The Job Search Works Department
has been given the responsibility of assisting Calumet
Township clients in this endeavor. Although it is
the client's ultimate responsibility, to find employment,
the Calumet Township Trustee has expanded services
and provided additional staff support to accomplish
these goals and objectives. The following information
will provide an overview of the Calumet Township Trustee's
Job Search Works Department.

The Job Search
Works Resources Center located at the main office, 35 E.
5 th Avenue , in the lower level provides Calumet Township
clients with a facility designed to assist with their job
search. Phone banks are available to contact potential employers
and research employment opportunities. Workstations provide
space to write resumes, cover, and thank-you letters. A
job posting board provides job leads and valuable job hunting
tips and information. The resource station provides all
types of information from childcare to educational opportunities
and financial aid.
The Job Search Works Counselors and
staff provide clients with testing, assessment, education,
and training opportunities. Our Job Search Works Department
sponsors clinics, conducts mock interviews, seminars, job
readiness classes, job clubs, and individual job initiatives.
Our counselors assist in developing resumes, cover, and
thank-you letters. We also provide training for clients
in telephone techniques and have developed a vast support/referral
network. The staff includes a job developer who establishes
contact with potential employers regarding job opportunities
and business expansion plans and develops a rapport with
businesses for a continuing long lasting relationship.

- Support Services and Referrals
- Assessment Test and Review Evaluation
- Sponsor and/or Conduct Seminars and Clinics
- Mock Interviews
- Developing and Maintaining Job Skills Data Base
- Clerical Support (copying and word processing)
- Individual Job Initiatives
- Job Clubs
- Career/Job Videotape

JOB READINESS PROGRAM
Job readiness is a training and development program of the Calumet Township Trustee's Office whose primary purpose is to reeducate the clients of Calumet Township on the fundamentals of obtaining employment. This objective is accomplished by introducing our clients to the most current techniques in job development such as:
- Resume development
- Mathematics enrichment
- Mock interviews
- Government agencies referrals
- Biweekly motivational seminars
- Job fairs
- Personal job counseling
- Appearance and grooming
All of these services are offered under the direction of our
Job Search Works Deputy, Mr. Alex Wheeler. |
